The Beacon is a Christian outdoor activity centre near Lee Abbey, North Devon offering organised activities for schools and youth groups. I was asked to work on a complete rebrand to reignite their business.
Leading brand workshops and researching the competition, it was clear that they weren’t communicating what makes them unique – their focus on relationships. My big idea of ‘For a life of discovery’ communicates that through relationships, activities and learning, young people will discover who they are and grow in confidence as they begin to find their own potential in the world.
The visual identity uses a reworked ‘compass’ logo based on the main Lee Abbey mark. Discovery and adventure runs through the brand, from the map inspired booklet, icons that highlight confidence, outdoors, teamwork and potential through to contour lines and a bright green colour palette.
